Samoens snowMassif Escape brings you the latest skiing conditions and snow forecast. We will endeavour to test every slope to bring you the most up to date skiing conditions....

Grand Massif Snow Forecast

Samoens Snow - 7 Feb 2009

What an amazing season ...just before mid-term break we are getting loads of snow. Today was an incredible day on the slopes. We ventured out early and were greeted with at least 20cm of fresh powder. It has been snowing the entire day and made for an exceptional days skiing and snowboarding ! More snow is forecast for Tue-Thurs ... What a great season !

Samoens Snow Alert ! - 17 Jan 2009

Excellent news ... the high pressure system has moved off and we are getting a good dump of snow. Between Sunday and Tuesday morning we are expecting around 28cm of fresh snow and then again from Thursday to Friday of around 24cm.

Grand Massif Conditions - 11 Jan 2009

Sitting here updating the snow report we were hoping to give you a snow alert but unfortunately due to most of Europe being hit by a high pressure system we have seen no snow and very cold temperatures. Temperatures a due to ease towards the end of the week and hopefully we see some snow activity towards the end of the month. What the cold has done is kept the snow conditions on runs such as Faust, Serpentine and Fred (Flaine), Marvel (Morillon) and Combe (Les Carroz), to name a few, in very good condition.

Snow levels for Samoens are:
Upper slopes - 135cm
Lower slopes - 70cm
Last snow on 1 Jan 2009

Snow levels for Flaine are:
Upper slopes - 135cm
Lower slopes - 60cm
Last snow on 31 Dec 2008

The Grand Massif currently has "Good Skiing Conditions". Hopefully the high pressure will move off shortly and bring some more snow to add to the good snow at present ... until then Bon Ski !

Snow Alert - 30 Dec 2008

It has been a while since we last had some snow but with the great early snow we have had the conditions are still good with 80cm of snow on the lower and 110cm on the upper slopes.

After a very cold snap (-10 over the last few days) it is starting to warm up and looks like we are going to get some more snow. The prediction is we going to have 14cm of fresh snow to see in the NEW YEAR ...what a great way to start the year !

Samoens Snow Report - Wed - 17 Dec 2008

Last night and today we have had a lovely snow fall. 20-25cm over the last 24hrs, perfect for the opening of the Grand Massif on the 19th December. These pictures were taken from our garden... altitude - 830m ...

Samoens and Morillon Open for the Weekend

Lower slopes: 85cm

Upper slopes: 100cm

Samoens and Morillon opened their ski lifts for the weekend (they open officially on 19 December), and my what a day we had. We ventured out early Saturday morning to find tons of snow at Samoens 1600. The snow was incredible! We did a few runs in Samoens (just to get the legs right) and then headed out to Morillon. We found ourselves doing Marvel and playing in the tons of powder. The snow and piste conditions were amazing. Samoens and Morillon have added new runs and a new restaurant on the blue Dahu run ... so everyting looking great for the season.
